Let’s Encrypt
It’s becoming more and more inportant that you know who you’re actually dealing with when working on-line and on the web.
Modern web sites now use https rather than http. The extra ’s’ is for Secure; that denotes that not only is the communications to and from the web server secure, but that the identity of the web server has - to some degree - been authenitcated, and that the server that you are talking to is the server that you think you’re talking to.
To secure your web site, you need to have your / your websites identify verified by a trusted third-party. This has traditionally been an expensive endevour.
However, there’s a new player in town - “Let’s Encrypt”.
Let’s Encrypt are providing free SSL certificates for your web sites.
Better still, they’re using a technology called “Automatic Certificate Management Environment” (ACME), which allows web servers to automatically get and install their own certificates.
This just massivley simplifies the creation of a new, secure web-site.
